Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Our dear Pope Francis has been called home on Easter to meet our Risen Lord! As he walked with so many on our earthly journeys, especially our sisters and brothers “in the margins” – the poor, the homeless, the migrant, the disabled, and the abused – our hearts and prayers are with him on his final pilgrimage.
We are saddened by the loss of Papa Francesco’s always kind and cheerful presence. While suffering with serious health challenges himself, he continued with his mission of hope, healing, and accompaniment.
Preaching, teaching, and living the Gospel proclaimed by Jesus, he inspired us to live in the light of this saving message, not only as we remember him on his last journey and throughout this Holy Year of Hope, but for all our life.
Perhaps the most beautiful way to honor the life of a loved one is not only to recall and recount the good they have done, but to make that life well lived our own mission.
The Easter message is not to seek the living among the dead. The two on the road to Emmaus were surprised to learn the fulfillment of the promise of Jesus that “where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am in your midst.” As we commend the soul of Pope Francis to God, may we be consoled in the bond of spiritual friendship that lives for all eternity.
I invite all to attend a Memorial Mass for Pope Francis to be held at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 27, 2025, at 5p.m.. Let us come together in prayer, as a family in faith, to celebrate the Pope’s life and the hope that his example continues to bring to each of us.
Your brother in Christ,
Bishop Edward B. Scharfenberger
On this Holy Thursday, we remember the powerful moment when Jesus knelt to wash the feet of His disciples.
A simple act of service, love, and humility—showing us that true leadership is rooted in compassion. As we enter the Triduum, may we reflect on how we can serve others with the same grace and humility.
"I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you." – John 13:15
You are invited to the Mass of the Lord’s Supper this evening at 7:30 PM as we enter into the mystery of Holy Thursday—the night Jesus gave us the gift of the Eucharist and the model of humble service. This sacred liturgy marks the beginning of the Paschal Triduum, the holiest days of our year.
As we gather at the table of the Lord, we are drawn into the depth of His love—love that kneels to serve, love that offers itself completely.
After Mass, all are encouraged to continue the night in prayer by visiting local churches in a Holy Thursday pilgrimage. In the spirit of ancient tradition, visit seven churches in remembrance of Christ’s journey through the night—from the Upper Room to His agony in the Garden.
Pilgrim passports will be available for you to pick up. These booklets include Scripture passages for reflection, space for your personal meditations, and a place to collect stamps from each church. Travel on your own or journey with others—more than seven churches are participating, so feel free to choose your path.
Walk with Christ. Watch with Him. Let this night be a pilgrimage of the heart.
We began Holy Week with hearts full of reverence and gratitude during our beautiful Palm Sunday Mass at Christ the King. As we remembered Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem, we were reminded of His unwavering love and sacrifice.
Join us as we continue this sacred journey through Holy Week—drawing closer to Christ through prayer, reflection, and community.
All are welcome at Christ the King Church.
Let us walk this path together, from the cross to the resurrection.

Patiently waiting to see the spring blooms. Garden ministry is chomping at the bit to get their hands on the soil.
As for man, his days are like the grass; he blossoms like a flower in the field. A wind sweeps over it and it is gone; its place knows it no more. But the Lord's mercy us from age to age, toward those who fear him. Psalm 103:15-17
